The Impacts of Our Unconscious Biases

The Impacts of Our Unconscious Biases

An unconscious bias is defined by a social stereotype about a group of people formed by individuals outside of the conscious awareness. On March 27, 2022, I had the pleasure and opportunity to present my speech titled “The Impacts of Our Unconscious Biases” at the Grenfell Campus (Memorial University) Multicultural Show. In this speech, I break down the unconscious biases by presenting real-life examples, definitions, impacts of our biases, and present solutions for a more accepting and inclusive tomorrow.

Talking about these ongoing problems will lead to change, where diversity and inclusion can become part of Newfoundland’s identity, and everyone can call themselves Proud Newfoundlanders.
