Rage and Grief are playing hide and seek.
Rage covers its eyes and counts to 10.
Grief runs on silent feet to hide behind the bedroom curtains.
“Ready or not, here I come!”
Rage stomps through the house,
Flipping tables, dumping trash baskets,
Pulling books from shelves, ripping clothes from hangers,
Finally tearing the curtains down from the rod to expose Grief,
Sitting cross-legged on the floor, arms wrapped around a ragged old teddy bear,
Tears streaming down its pale little face.
“Here I am,” Grief whispers.
